Hockey action on Saturday at Whangarei Hockey stadium. Northland men and women took on Auckland. Northland women won 2-1, the men going down 7-0. Northland are in red.
Hockey photo update from Whangarei, Northland. On Saturday prem teams Hikurangi and Kamo played off, while on Sunday Northland U18 men played a series of matches, this one being against Counties.
Two more galleries added over the weekend. Friday night in reserve women grade, Old Girls played Whangarei Girls High. Saturday afternoon, new team Springfield played Hikurangi. A lot of good shots in these action packed games. In this photo Hikurangi are on attack shooting for goal. Springfield won the game.
The 2010 season of hockey at the Whangarei Hockey Stadium has kicked off. Playing in summer conditions Old Girls beat Hikurangi in one of three prem women games held over the weekend. Various other grades have already started, with senior men kicking off after Easter
Got back from Nelson at the Masters National Hockey Tournament. Tired from a long week of hard hockey games. We eventually finished 5th in our grade, the 35+ women doing the best by coming 3rd. Now catching up with all work, and a backlog of blogs to write up. This is a picture of my 40+ mens’ team. More hockey photos to follow.
This week the Mayhill Cup is being held in Whangarei. This is the third tier North Island secondary schools hockey tournament held every year. I’ve been helping out with umpire duties but had a chance to take hockey photos of local school Kamo High (in the green) playing against Rongotai College. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
More hockey action during the week, saw Springfield play Mangapai on Wednesday night to determine whom would play ‘Karamea in the senior men grand final. Springfield won 4-1 so puts the boys in with us (Springfield Reserve) in a double header. I’ll take the camera along so I might have a chance to take some hockey action.
More action from over the weekend as time draws close to finals. Another 4 galleries added – U13 Northland Girls vs Bay of Plenty, Reserve Women Semi Final Games, Prem Men & Women Semi-finals. More than likely there won’t be any hockey games of the finals as I’m playing in my own final – so that takes priority.
