Kirsty from Takapuna contacted me about having this photo, taken on Waiheke Island, to be put onto canvas. Kirsty wanted to preserve as much of the image without losing it around the sides. I suggested doing a mirror image of the sides to still retain the 3D effect of the image. In the end I extended the RHS and bottom, preserving the lines of the hill and bush. The top and left sides were mirror imaged.
The canvas frame was made to A2 size. Kirsty’s feedback when she got it was:”Just wanted to let you know over the weekend the canvas got sooooo
many compliments! Thank you once again for a fabulous job you have done!”

Ian came to see me about printing a large panorama of his home town in the Orkney Islands, Scotland. He had a series of photos to join together to make one long panorama print. However, as we discovered there were a few gaps in the photo, so it couldn’t be easily stitched together.
With the gaps there, I was able to hand fill in the missing pieces to give one complete image. The final photo panorama print was 141cm x 25cm in dimensions printed on matt paper.

Zoe came to see me about having this photo printed onto canvas and gallery wrapped. It was a stunning sunset taken at Mitimiti on the west coast, Northwest of the Hokianga Harbour, Northland, New Zealand.
I discussed with Zoe the canvas print would best if the whole of the image was retained on the front. I extended the size to preserve a 3D effect and made the frame 620mm x 465mm. Zoe loved the final print.

The Leighs saw me about getting this photo repaired. It was a picture taken some thirty years ago of their daughter and her horse. Sadly, the horse had just been put down due to ailing health and being in its 30s. The daughter was very upset over this, so the Leighs thought that giving her this photo would be a great gift. But first all the marks had to be removed!
The photo was scanned in sections (being 12 x 18inch in size) joined together, then the marks systematically removed. The difficult portion was the facial area around the eye and cheek. The Leighs loved the photo and think their daughter will really appreciate it. Two prints the size of the original were made.

Innes contatced me about restoring this interesting photo. It was taken back in 1934 and shows a number of tents near the beaxch at Matapouri, Northland. It was a miners’ camp for the miners working in mines at Hikurangi - about 35 kms away. The photo was marked and faded. It was enhanced and bought back to life.

This week the Mayhill Cup is being held in Whangarei. This is the third tier North Island secondary schools hockey tournament held every year. I’ve been helping out with umpire duties but had a chance to take hockey photos of local school Kamo High (in the green) playing against Rongotai College. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
