Restore-Photo-Remove-Marks-Stains

This photo was emailed to me in need of some heavy photo restoration. The photo was stained and marked quite badly. The marks and stains were removed, the background entirely replaced, then turned to a more pleasing black and white. The photo was then enlarged and printed to 400 x 500mm.

I’ve just completed another large photo project.  I had 35 team photos of rugby players from the Maungakaramea and Whangarei region. They included representative teams from the 1920s, and local teams from the 60s and 70s. Needless to say it was a large project. Each photo was scanned, given a quick touchup, then 2 copies of each printed to 8 x 10 inch size.

Ross sent me another photo belonging to the Kaitaia Volunteer Fire Brigade. This photo was taken in the 1950s and was in need of some restoration work - this time removing marks and scratches. The photo was scanned at a high resolution as the original photo was 5 x 3 inches and needed enlarging to 12 x 18 inches. The marks and scratches were removed with the final enlargement looking nice and clear.

Dave emailed me this New Zealand navy photo in need of some serious restoration and repair. The photo is of Dave’s grandfather, on the right hand side, taking lessons on the latest torpedo technology.

The photo had multiple scratches and marks that were all removed. What Dave and myself thought was originally white paper stuck to the photo was in fact the fins of the torpedo blending in with the white of the navy mens’ uniforms! So even the experts can get it wrong. Emailing proofs to Dave, we eventually got all the errors corrected and the photo fully restored.

The photo was taken between 1957 and 1962 in England at HMS Collingwood. The men in the photo were to join the HMNZS Otago.

Jo sent me these two wedding photos in need of some restoration. The original photos had a yellowy stain, appearing to have come from nicotine smoke. The images also had some rips and tears. The photos were scanned in, the yellow tinge removed, the images lightened, tears removed and a brown sepia added. Jo was very happy with the repaired photos, the bride and groom had a more pleasing appearance.
