After a hectic few months of photo restoration, repairs, enhancements and canvas and photo printing it’s time to take some time out to recharge the batteries. All targets have been exceeeded with work growth and it looks to be even busier next year. The blog has only covered a portion of the work I’ve been doing, but I hope to put up even more and varied examples of photos worked on next year. I’ll be answering emails from time time over the holiday period but work won’t start full swing until early January. Have a good one!

Margaret came to me wanting some photo restoration magic done on her three sons. They’d suffered from age and mishandling so needed a refresh. I cropped the image down a bit to remove the worst of the tearing, then rebuilt and repaired the lost areas of the photo. I then fixed the faded colour, and with Margaret’s input, got the colours in the photo to exactly how she wanted them.

Dee came back to me with another photo alteration job. She brought in this photocopy of an old family photo. She wanted the man and woman sitting at both ends put together and printed onto photo paper for a longer lasting image. I removed the lady from the right, blended her in so she was sitting with her husband. The background was then blended in so the photo looked as original as possible. Minor resotration work was done to the image to remove the tears across the photo.

Lee, wanting a photo enlargement, sent this photo of her brother getting some air while kite surfing. Looks like he didn’t need any surf as he’s so high in the air, waves wouldn’t be a problem!. Lee had taken it on a stock digital camera. I cropped the image to make it a vertical panorama 1000mm high. It was then printed onto photo paper for later mounting.

Tracy came to me with two paintings done by her children when they were respectively aged 5. Tracy wanted to give a unique Christmas present to her parents. I scanned in the images and printed both images to A3 size. A sign of future artists?

Michelle from Christchurch sent me this photo in need of restoration and alteration work. Michelle explained this was a photo taken of her grandparents 30 years ago at her mother’s wedding. Michelle wanted the image brought back to near original but with the wine glass and candle removed along with the dinner plates and food.
I fixed and enhanced the lighting in the photo, and carefully removed the candle, glass and ladle spoon in front of the man. Then I rebuilt up the woman’s dress and cropped the remainder of the table. Michelle was rapt with the proof image. It was to be then printed and given to her mother on her 50th birthday.

Mrs Hansard sent me this photo with three children requiring some alteration. She wanted the middle child on his own. This is a picture of her brother-in-law taken in 1941. I had to remove the two other children and fill in the missing background. This was enlarged to an 8 x 10 portrait size and produced a very nice photo print.

Mrs Rutherford came to me with this photo alteration job of this old haybarn, on her parents’ farm when she was a child. Mrs Rutherford wanted the rest of the shed roof added on and a large part of the foreground cropped off. Getting the roof right and weatherboard angles the correct lines proved to be the most challenging part of the job. Adding in the trees and sky completed the photo with a sepia colour added to give it more of an aged effect.
Some minor restoration work was done to remove any marks and scratches.
